Argentina, the reigning champions, will lock horns with Colombia in the Copa America final. Colombia secured their spot with a narrow 1-0 victory over Uruguay in a thrilling semi-final on Thursday morning.
A first-half header from Jefferson Lerma proved to be the difference for Colombia. However, the challenge got tougher when Daniel Munoz received a red card just before halftime, forcing Colombia to play a man down for the entire second leg.
Despite their numerical disadvantage, Colombia held firm defensively, denying Uruguay’s numerous attempts at an equalizer. Uruguay ultimately fell short, missing out on a chance to challenge for the title.
The highly anticipated final between Argentina and Colombia will kick off at 5:45 am Nepal Time on Monday, July 15th, 2024. Argentina booked their place in the finals with a convincing 2-0 win against Canada earlier in the tournament.
