Manchester City has qualified for the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals after Norwegian attacker, Erling Braut Haaland scored a record-breaking hat-trick in the second leg of the pre-quarterfinals against German club RB Leipzig.

First Half Dominance

Haaland’s penalty goal gave City the advantage in the 22nd minute. He doubled the goal after two minutes. In the last minutes of the first half, Haaland scored his third goal. By this City Lead by 3 goals.

Second Half Surge

Ilkay Gundogan scored in the 49th minute, and Haaland added his fourth and fifth goals of the game in the 53rd and 57th minutes, respectively, as the Norwegian attacker proceeded to score in the second half.

Final Goal and Record Breaker

In the second minute of extra time, De Bruyne scored to give City a comfortable 7-0 victory. Haaland set numerous records during the game. It includes the youngest player to ever score five goals in a single Champions League encounter and the fastest player to ever score 30 goals in the competition.


Haaland scored five goals during the game to propel Manchester City to a lopsided victory over RB Leipzig that totaled 8-1. The 22-year-old attacker is the only player from City to accomplish this milestone in one season, having scored 39 goals in all competitions this year.
