Rahmanullah Gurbaz and N Jagadeesan opened the inning for KKR. In the second over, KKR lost their first wicket as N Jagadeesan was gone for a duck. Cameron Green took his wicket. Venkatesh Iyer came to bat at No. 3 and started hitting boundaries.
Chawla sent Gurbaz back to the pavilion in the 6th over. Gurbaz scored only 8 runs in 12 balls. Nitish Rana came in and scored 5 runs in 10 balls then Hrithik Shokeen took his wicket. Venkatesh Iyer was batting brilliantly and completed his fifty. Shardul Thakur scored 13 runs in 11 balls. In the 13th over, Hrithik Shokeen strike again and sent him back to the pavilion.
Rinku Singh joined Venky Iyer in the crease. Venky Iyer completed his first IPL century in the 17th over of the inning. Then he also got out in the 18th over just after completing his hundred. Rinku Singh also scored 18 runs in 18 balls then departs. Duan Jansen made him out.
Andre Russell remained not out in 21 runs in 11 balls. The KKR scored 185 runs with a loss of 6 wickets after playing all 20 overs.
Venkatesh Iyer Century
Venkatesh Iyer played a very excellent inning for his team. He completed his century in 49 balls. He scored 104 runs in 51 balls then Meredith sent him back to the pavilion. He smashed six fours and nine sixes in his inning. This is the first IPL century for Venkatesh Iyer and it is also the second century for any player playing for KKR.
MI Bowling
Hrithik Shokeen picked up 2 wickets for Mumbai Indians. He conceded 34 runs in his spell. Piyush Chawla also bowled well and took 1 wicket and conceded only 19 runs. Cameron Green, debutant Daun Jansen, and Riley Meridith also got 1-1 wickets. Another debutant Arjun Tendulkar bowled 2 overs and remained wicketless in the match.
