Namibia vs PNG CWC Qualifiers Playoff: In the fifth match of the ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier Play-off 2023, Namibia defeated PNG by 48 runs. The match was played on March 29 at United Cricket Club Ground, Windhoek. Gerhard Erasmus became the Player of the Match for his all-round performance. He scored 125 runs with the bat and took 2 very crucial wickets with the bowl.

First Inning: Namibia Set their Highest Team Total ever

Namibia set a target of 382 runs with a loss of 8 wickets. For Namibia, Opening batsman Niko Davin scored 90 runs off 79 balls. Captain Gerhard Erasmus scored a magnificent hundred for the team. In his inning, he scored 125 runs off 113 balls with the help of 11 fours and 5 sixes. Nicol Loftie-Eaton completed a half-century for the team. Zane Green also hit a fast 33 runs for the team. Pikky Ya France, Ruben Trumpelmann, and Kael Birkenstock also contributed some runs for the team.

For Papua New Guinea, Semo Kamea took a five-wicket haul. He sent Davin, Erasmus, Eaton, France, and Trumpelmann back to the pavilion. Kabua Morea took 2 wickets while Captain Vala got 1 wicket.

Second Inning: Amini hundred couldn’t secure the team win

Papua New Guinea only reach up to 333 runs and Namibia won the match by 48 runs. Charles Amini scored a brilliant hundred on chase, but Erasmus sent him back to the pavilion. Doriga also scored 47 runs for the team. Sese Bau and Captain Vala also made half-centuries but couldn’t secure the team’s win.

For Namibia, both Ruben Trumpelmann and Bernard Scholtz took 3-wicket hauls. Erasmus got 2 wickets while Shikongo and Fouche got 1-1 wickets.
