Nepal vs Malaysia, Nepal won the first Match of the ACC Premier Cup 2023. Nepal defeated Malaysia by 6 wickets. The match was played on April 18 at TU Cricket Ground, Kirtipur.
Malaysia won the toss and opted to bat first. Malaysia reached 235 runs after playing all 50 overs with a loss of 9 wickets. In the chase, Nepal completed the target with a loss of 4 wickets with 82 balls remaining.
First Inning
Malaysia Batting
Muhammad Amir and Virandeep Singh opened the inning for Malaysia. Gulshan Jha took the first wicket for Nepal, Amir scored 17 runs off 18 balls. Captain Ahmad Faiz joined Virandeep on the crease. Both batsmen were settled on the crease and scored runs for the team.
Faiz completed his fifty off 62 balls in the 23rd over of the innings. Both batsmen continued their batting till the 34th over. Sandeep gave a breakthrough for Nepal, he sent Captain A Faiz back to the pavilion for 76 runs. Virandeep S and A Faiz had a partnership of 116 runs for the second wicket.
Virandeep Singh scored 46 runs in 94 balls, then Lalit sent him back to the pavilion. He scored the runs with a strike rate of less than fifty with just two fours in his inning. Then Malaysia was in 156 runs after 38 overs with a loss of three wickets.
Then Nepali bowlers didn’t let other Malaysian batsmen to settled well on the crease. Malaysia wickets fall continuously. Vijay Unni scored 12, Syed Aziz scored 13, and Khizar Hayat scored 22 runs for Malaysia. Firti Sham went for a golden duck on the ball by Sompal.
At last, Syazrul Ezat Idrus scored 21 runs and Muhamad Syahadat scored 15 runs for the team Malaysia. Both were out in the last over by Sandeep Lamichhane. Muhammad Wafiq remained not out in 1 run then Malaysia set a target of 236 runs with a loss of 9 wickets.
Ahmad Faiz Fifty
Ahmad Faiz played a good inning of 76 runs. He scored runs in 95 balls with a strike rate of 80. He smashed eight fours and one six in his inning. Aarif Sheikh took his catch on the ball by Lamichhane.
Nepal Bowling
For Nepal, Sandeep Lamichhane and Sompal Kami picked up 3-3 wickets. Sandeep conceded 48 runs while Sompal conceded 40 runs in their spells. Lalit Rajbanshi took 2 wickets while Gulshan Jha also got 1 wicket.

Nepal Batting
Kushal Bhurtel and Aasif Sheikh walked into the field to open the inning for Nepal. Aasif Sheikh couldn’t do much for the team. He was out for 1 run, c&b by Muhammad Wafiq. Bhim Sharki joined K Bhurtel on the crease.
Kushal Bhurtel played some shots and hit some boundaries then he was caught out on the ball by Rizwan Haider. He scored 38 runs in 31 balls with the help of five fours and two sixes.
Captain Rohit Paudel walked into the crease and started building a partnership with Bhim Sharki. They had a partnership of 66 runs for the third wicket. Captain Rohit Paudel scored 42 runs in 43 balls then Virandeep Singh picked up his wicket. He smashed five fours in his inning. Then Nepal was in 119 runs after 22 overs with a loss of 3 wickets.
Kushal Malla came to bat at No. 5 and faced some balls then started hitting the balls for boundaries. Both batters completed their fifty and lead Nepal toward winning the match. Both played beautifully and were about to finish the match but Bhim Sharki’s wicket was down while 6 runs remained to win the match.
Kushal Malla and Dipendra Singh Airee finished the match for Nepal. Nepal won the match by 6 wickets. Kushal Malla scored 70 runs not out and DS Airee finished in 5 runs not out.
Bhim Sharki Fifty
Bhim Sharki played a very brilliant inning for Nepal. He scored 71 runs in 98 balls with the help of five fours. He lost his wicket while 6 runs remained to win.
Kushal Malla Fifty
Kushal Malla came to bat and played a very impressive inning for Nepal. He scored 70 runs not out in 40 balls. He smashed five fours and five sixes in his inning and finished the match for Nepal.
Malaysia Bowling
The Malaysian Captain used 8 bowlers to bowl the game. For Malaysia, Muhammad Wafiq, Rizwan Haider, Vijay Unni, and Virandeep Singh took 1-1 wickets each.
