Nepal Dominates PNG in all six matches of CWC League 2

On Monday at the TU Cricket Stadium, Nepal outplayed Papua New Guinea (PNG) and won by an unprecedented nine wickets. Nepal controlled the game by holding PNG to only 95 runs, which was their second-lowest total in an ODI, and chasing down the mark with 254 balls remaining.

Nepal’s 100% Record Against PNG in CWC League 2

In all six of their games in CWC League 2 against PNG, Nepal came out on top. This is a remarkable accomplishment for Nepal. They are the only team in the League to have completely beaten every opponent.

Rohit Paudel’s 60 helped Nepal chase down a total of 205 with only two wickets left in the first game they played against PNG in Sharjah in March 2022. In the following game, Kushal Bhurtl and Aarif Sheikh each scored fifty runs. And Nepal won by seven wickets after chasing an average goal of 174 in just 37 overs. The other two games in the series against UAE were lost by Nepal, who failed to chase an average target in both games.

In response to 204 runs, Nepal won by four wickets on February 27 thanks in large part to a crucial 56 runs from Kushal Bhurtel. After the victory, they battled to a three-wicket victory on March 3, with Aasif Sheikh leading the way with an unbeaten 86 runs.

Nepal’s Latest Wins Against PNG

On March 9th, Nepal met Assad Vala’s team at the TU Cricket Field. And for the first time in the series, they batted first against PNG. After recording their greatest ODI score, the home team won by 45 runs. On March 13, Nepal defeated PNG in the final game with a record victory, further demonstrating their domination in the League. Nepal is currently in fourth place in the CWC League 2 rankings after winning ten of its previous eleven games. But, a victory in their final game against the UAE on March 16th will move Nepal up to third place. Nepal will pass Namibia, and ultimately secure them a straight entry for the World Cup Qualification in Zimbabwe.
