Nepal and UAE played in the first Warm-up match of ICC World Cup Qualifiers 2023 at Old Hararians, Zimbabwe. Nepal lost the First Warm-Up Match Against UAE by 3 wickets. This kind of Warm-up match helps the team and players to understand the Condition of Zimbabwe.
This is just a warm-up match which is not recognized as an ODI match by ICC. Nepal will play its second warm-up match with Oman on June 15.
First Inning: Nepal sets a target of 277 runs
In the warm-up match against UAE, Nepal’s opening batsmen Kushal Bhurtel and Aasif Sheikh formed a strong partnership of 87 runs for the first wicket, with Kushal scoring 39 runs off 53 balls before being dismissed in the 19th over. Bhim Sharki joined Aasif in the crease, but both Aasif and Bhim were eventually dismissed. Aashif Sheikh managed a 50+ score being the highest run scorer for Nepal.
Aarif Sheikh and Kushal Malla then came to the crease and built a partnership, reaching fifty runs. However, Aarif was out on the first ball of the 45th over after contributing 35 runs. Dipendra Singh Airee joined Kushal Malla at the crease, but Kushal also got out in the same over, leaving Nepal at 237 runs after 45 overs.
Gulshan Jha joined Airee and they added 16 runs in the 46th over, but Gulshan was dismissed in the third ball of the 47th over. Captain Rohit Kumar Poudel came in, but both he and Airee were subsequently dismissed. Sompal Kami and Karan then took over, with Nepal at 256 runs and 8 wickets lost in 47.1 overs.
By the end of the 49th over, Nepal’s score had reached 272 runs with 8 wickets down. Sompal was dismissed, and Lalit came in to bat. Unfortunately, Nepal lost their last wicket, finishing their innings with a total of 276 runs against UAE in the warm-up match.
Second Inning: Nepal Lost the First Warm-Up Match Against UAE by 5 Wickets
UAE came to the crease with Waseem and Aryansh as an opening pair. UAE lost the quick wicket as Muhammad Waseem got out at a personal score of 19 runs. He was bowled by Sompal Kami. At the end of 14 UAE was 70 with one wicket loss. UAE lost their quick wickets and at the end of 21 overs, they were 106 for 3 down.
At the end of 37 overs UAE was 177 for 4 down. UAE lost Rameez as the fifth wicket and at the end of 40 overs, UAE were 204 for 5 down. At the end of 45 overs, UAE was 241 for 5 down. Rohan Mustafa played a beautiful knock of 78 runs which leads UAE to victory in the Warm-up against Nepal by 3 wickets.
