Nepal elected to bat first after winning the toss. They started out poorly, losing both of their openers, Kushal Bhurtel and Aasif Sheikh, within the first five overs. After the first powerplay, Nepal was 33 for 3, UAE’s successful early-on tactic of bowling both of their left-arm spinners. Third-placed Kushal Malla didn’t stick around for very long either, or Nepal soon found itself in difficulty.
Prior to Bhim Sharki giving away his wicket to Mustafa in the final delivery of the 22nd over after slamming him for back-to-back boundaries. Rohit Paudel and Bhim Sharki established a 54-run partnership for the fourth wicket. With a score of 77 off 112 balls, nine boundaries, Rohit Paudel set the tone for the entire innings. Aarif Sheikh also made a significant 43 runs off 52 balls.
Gulshan Jha counterattacked the UAE bowlers. And he quickly smashed 37 runs off only 32 balls, striking three sixes in the process. Dipendra Singh Airee joined in the fun as well. He scores 34 runs off just 19 balls, including three boundaries and two sixes. Sompal Kami was out after being caught by Zahoor Khan, and Nepal completed their innings with 248 runs from 49.2 overs.
2nd Inning: Nepal won by 177 runs
Chasing a total of 249 runs in a must-win match, their start was disastrous as they lost four wickets in the first five overs with just eight runs on the board. UAE failed to recover from this early setback and was eventually bundled out for their lowest-ever total of 71 runs. Lalit Rajbanshi, in his first ODI fifer, was the pick of the bowlers for Nepal with impressive figures of 5 wickets for just 20 runs in 7.5 overs. UAE, on the other hand, lost a significant chance to maintain their direct ODI status.
