Nepal showed brilliant bowling in the final of the ACC Premier Cup 2023. Nepal Stopped UAE for a low total of 117 runs. The ongoing Nepal vs UAE final match is being played at TU Cricket Ground, Kirtipur. Nepal won the toss and invite UAE to bat first. The final match was interrupted on May 1 due to rain and the game continued on reserve day May 2.
On May 1, UAE made 106 runs in 27.3 overs with a loss of 9 wickets. Lalit Rajbanshi was on a hattrick and the game was interrupted due to rain. The remaining game continued on May 2 and then the first inning was completed.
Nepal Stopped UAE for a Low Total
Nepal needs 118 runs to win the final of the ACC Premier Cup 2023 and to secure the spot in Asia Cup 2023. Asif Khan scored the highest 46 runs for UAE. Other batsmen couldn’t score many runs and UAE was all out in 117 runs.
For Nepal, Lalit Rajbanshi picked up 4 wickets. Sandeep Lamichhane and Karan KC both also picked up 2 wickets for the team. Sompal and Gulshan both also contributed 1 wicket in the match.
Two Big Wickets for Nepal at the Beginning
Nepal got two big wickets at the beginning of the inning. Sompal Kami gives the first breakthrough for Nepal in 17 runs of UAE. In the fourth over of the inning, Waseem was out for 11 runs. Vritya Aravind who is carrying phenomenal form walked in and faced some balls. Karan KC struck his first wicket and sent him back to the pavilion for 8 runs. UAE lost their main two batters in just under 5 overs for 28 runs.
Early Wickets Falls
UAE lost their 5 wickets in just 51 runs under 14 overs. After Waseem and Aravind other batsman also failed to control the inning. Another opening batsman Aryan Lakra went back for 13 runs in the 9th over. This time again, Karan KC took the wicket for Nepal. In the next over, Lalit Rajbanshi struck and sent Rameez Shahzad back to the pavilion for 1 run. UAE lost their fifth wicket as Rohan Mustafa. Mustafa made 2 runs then Sandeep Lamichhane took his wicket.
Rain Interrupted the Match
After losing early 5 wickets, Asif Khan and Basil Hameed were on the crease for UAE. Asif Khan was playing with 15 runs and Basil was playing with 6 runs then rain interrupted the match when UAE was in 60 runs with a loss of 5 wickets in 16 overs.
Aasif and Hameed Tried to Build a Partnership
After the interruption of rain for some time the match started again. Asif and Hameed started to build a partnership for UAE. They had a partnership of 39 runs, then Hameed was bowled by Gulshan Jha. Hameed was out for 10 runs in the 23rd over of the inning.
Falling of Wickets Continuously
UAE lost their wickets in regular intervals. To reach 100 runs UAE was already lost their 6 wickets. In 103 runs, UAE lost another wicket as A Afzal Khan. He made just 5 runs for the team then Sandeep Lamichhane sent him back to the pavilion.
Asif Khan Inning
Asif Khan scored 46 runs in 53 balls for UAE. He smashed 1 six and 7 fours in his inning. He stayed on the crease and made runs when other batters weren’t able to do so but he also went back in 28th over. Lalit Rajbanshi took his wicket while UAE was in 106 runs.
In the next ball of Asif Khan’s wicket, Zahoor Khan went back for a golden duck. Lalit sent him back to the pavilion as his 3rd wicket in the match.
Rain Made Nepal a Long Wait for the Final Wicket
Just after Zahoor Khan’s wicket, the rain-interrupted match again Nepal have to wait long for the final wicket. The rain didn’t stop and they decided to continue the match on reserve day on May 2. The match was continued from the same scorecard where UAE was in 106 runs with a loss of 9 wickets. As the last wicket was down, Nepal stopped UAE for a low total of 117 runs.
