The Netherlands defeated Zimbabwe: On Tuesday, March 21st, 2023, Zimbabwe and the Netherlands played the first ODI of their tour. In the match, Nederlands won the toss and elected to bowl first. In the first inning, Zimbabwe was all out on 249 runs. On chase, Netharland reached the target before 1 ball remaining in the game. Netherlands Teja Nidamanuru became the PLAYER OF THE MATCH for his outstanding century.

1st Inning: Zimbabwe set a target of 250 runs.

For Zimbabwe, Innocent Kaia and Captain Craig Ervine came on the crease to open the inning. Dutch seamer Fred Klaassen sent Captain Craig Ervine back to the pavilion in the 3rd over of the inning. After losing 1st wicket in 13 runs, Zimbabwe lost its 2nd wicket in the 4th over of the inning. This time, Gary Ballance got out on the ball of Paul van Meekeren in the team score of 18 runs. Zimbabwe lost their wickets at regular intervals. Till the 21st over, Zimbabwe lost their first 7 wickets on the score of 98 runs. Innocent Kaia, Wesley Madhevere, Ryan Burl, Sikandar Raza, and Brad Evans lost their wickets in the team scores of 31, 48, 70, 91, and 98 runs respectively.

For the 8th wicket, Clive Madande and Wellington Masakadza made a partnership of 70 runs. Shariz Ahmed ran out Wellington Masakadza in the first ball of the 38th over. He scored 34 runs for the team. Clive Madande did another partnership with Richard Ngarava and took Zimbabwe to 234 runs. At the 46th over, Fred Classen broke the 66 runs partnership and sent Richard Ngarava back to the pavilion. Fred Klaassen caught out Clive Madande on his delivery as Zimbabwe was all out for 247 runs in 47.3 overs. Blessing Muzarabani scored 8 runs not out.

For the Netherlands, Fred Klaassen took 3 wickets and Paul van Meekeren took 2 wickets. Brandon Glover, Vikramjit Singh, and Shariz Ahmad got 1-1 wickets each.

2nd Inning: Netherlands defeated Zimbabwe

For the Netherlands, Vikramjit Singh and Max O’Dowd came into the crease to open the inning. The Netherlands lost the 1st wicket in 15 runs in the 5th over of the inning. Ngarava sent Vikramjit Singh back to the pavilion. After V. Singh, Ngarava sent new batsman Tom Cooper also back to the pavilion immediately on the team score of 19 runs. The Netherlands lost their 3rd, 4th, and 5th wickets in 48, 49, and 65 runs respectively. Max O’Dowd and Captain Scott Edwards were sent back to the pavilion by Wellington Masakadza while Brad Evans took the wicket of Musa Ahmed.

The Netherlands lost the 6th wicket at 110 runs as Colin Ackermann was out in the 32nd over. Ackermann scored a half-century for the team and got out by Wellington Masakadza. Shariz Ahmad scored 30 runs and contributed to the team’s win. The team’s score was 220 runs when he was run out in the 47th over.

Teja Nidamanuru scored an outstanding century and helped the Netherlands to win the match. He scored 110 runs in 96 balls with a strike rate of 114.58. He strikes 9 fours and 3 sixes in his inning. It was the maiden ODI century for T. Nidamanuru. For Zimbabwe, Wellington Masakadza took 3 wickets. Richard Ngarava got 2 wickets while Brad Evans got 1 wicket.

2nd and 3rd ODI :

As in the 1st ODI Netherlands defeated Zimbabwe. The 2nd ODI will be played on Mar 21, Tue, and the 3rd ODI will be played on Mar 25, Sat. Both matches will be played at Harare Sports Club, Harare.
