The Oman Cricket Team has announced their squad for the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifiers. Zeeshan Maqsood is chosen as the captain of the team. The squad consists of 15 players and was revealed on Wednesday.
Oman is in the Group B of the Qualifier along with Sri Lanka, Scotland, UAE, and Ireland. Their first match is scheduled for June 19 against Ireland, which marks the beginning of their campaign. Before the main event, Oman will play warm-up matches against Zimbabwe and Nepal.
To prepare for the World Cup Qualifiers, Duleep Mendis, the Head Coach, has organized a 12-day tour to Durban, South Africa. During the tour, Oman will play five practice matches to improve their skills and be fully ready for the Qualifiers. The warm-up games against Nepal and Zimbabwe in Harare are important, as they give the team a chance to showcase their abilities and strive for success in Zimbabwe.
World Cup Qualifiers 2023 will take place from 18th June to 9th July. The top three teams from each group will progress to Super 6. In the Super 6, each team will play against each other. The two teams with the highest rankings in the Super Six will then play in the final. The finalists will secure their places in the highly anticipated Cricket World Cup 2023. The ICC has already released the fixtures for the tournament, which has generated excitement among fans.
West Indies, Netherlands, Ireland, and Scotland have already announced their squads for the CWC Qualifier. Meanwhile, Nepal has revealed a preliminary squad of 22 players, showing that they are also preparing for the qualifiers.
