Dambulla, Sri Lanka – Pakistan has significantly boosted their chances of qualifying for the semi-finals of the Women’s Asia Cup 2024 after a dominant 10-wicket victory over the UAE on Tuesday.
Chasing a modest target of 104 runs at the Rangiri Dambulla International Cricket Ground, Pakistan openers Gull Feroza and Muneeba Ali shared an unbeaten century partnership to guide their team to a comfortable win in just 14.1 overs. Feroza finished on 62* and Ali on 30*.
Earlier, the UAE were restricted to 103/8 in their 20 overs, with Theertha Satish top-scoring with 40. Pakistan’s bowling attack was impressive, with Sadia Iqbal, Nashra Sandhu, and Tuba Hassan claiming two wickets each.
With this victory, Pakistan has strengthened its net run rate and put themselves in a strong position to advance to the next stage of the tournament. While a mathematically possible scenario exists for Nepal to qualify, it would require a highly unlikely outcome in their final group match against India.
The India-Nepal match will be played later today at 7:15 PM.
