Pakistan defeated Nepal in the Asia Cup 2023. Pakistan won the match by 238 runs. The Nepal vs Pakistan match was played at Multan Cricket Stadium, Multan. Pakistan won the toss and opted to bat first. Babar Azam and Iftikhar Ahmed both scored centuries in the match.

In the inaugural match of Asia Cup 2023, Nepal lost against Pakistan by a very big margin of 238 runs. Pakistan played very well in the match. Nepal put Pakistan under pressure in the initial 30 overs of the first inning. But later on, in the match, Pakistan showed their experience and set a big total. In the second inning, Pakistan bowled well and hence Pakistan defeated Nepal in the Asia Cup 2023.
Pakistan vs Nepal First Inning
Pakistan did not get a very good start in the initial overs. Pakistan lost both openers Fakhar Zaman and Imam-ul-Haq in the first 7 overs. Karan KC took the wicket of Zaman, he scored 14 runs for Pakistan. With the help of a fiery direct hit by Rohit Paudel, Imam was run out for 5 runs.
Babar and Rizwan had a partnership of 86 runs for the third wicket. Both batters were playing very nicely but in the 24th over, Rizwan was also run out by DS Airee. He scored 44 runs for Pakistan. Salman Agha came to the crease to bat, he couldn’t do much for the team and was out for 5 runs. Sandeep Lamichhane took his wicket.
Iftikhar joined captain Babar on the crease, and they had a partnership of 214 runs for the fifth wicket. Captain Babar scored 151 runs in 131 balls with the help of 14 fours and 4 sixes. In the final over of the inning, Sompal Kami took his wicket. Iftikhar also played brilliantly and smashed 109 runs not out in just 71 balls. He smashed 11 fours and 4 sixes in his inning. Shadab made 4 runs and was out in the last ball of the inning. Pakistan set a target of 343 runs with a loss of 6 wickets in 50 overs.
Pakistan vs Nepal Second inning
Nepal also had a bad start in the very initial overs of the match. Nepal lost back-to-back 3 wickets in the first 2 overs of the inning. In the first over, Shaheen took the wickets of Kushal Bhurtel and Rohit Paudel. Kushal hits two fours and Rohit is out for a golden duck. In the next over by Naseem Shah, Aasif Sheikh also lost his wicket for 5 runs. Nepal was in 14 runs with a loss of 3 wickets in 1.4 overs.
Aarif Sheikh and Sompal Kami have a partnership of 59 runs for the fourth wicket. Aarif made 26 runs and got bowled by Haris Rauf. In another over by Rauf, Sompal also lost his wicket. He scored 28 runs for the team. In 90 runs, Nepal lost another wicket, DS Airee departs for 3 runs on the ball by Nawaz. In 91 runs, Nepal lost two wickets, first Gulshan Jha and then Sandeep. Shadab took 2 wickets in that over, Gulshan out for 13 runs and Lamichhane gone for a duck.
Karan KC and Kushal Malla were on the crease, batting for the nineth wicket. Kushal Malla hit a six then he was also out by Shadab Khan. Then Nepal was in 104 runs with a loss of 9 wickets at 23.2 overs. Lalit came to bat and also lbw by Shadab khan. Nepal all out in 104 runs and Pakistan defeated Nepal in the Asia Cup 2023.
