LSG vs PBKS IPL 2023: Punjab Kings won the match against LSG in the 21st match of IPL 2023. Punjab Kings won the match by 2 wickets. The match was played on the 15th of April at Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow. Sikandar Raza became the player of the match for his good all-round performance in the match.
Punjab Kings won the toss and opted to bowl first. LSG has a good start but couldn’t finish well and only reached 159 runs. In the chase, PBKS completed the target with 3 balls remaining and won the match by 2 wickets.
First Inning Summary
Lucknow Super Giants set a low total of 159 runs. Captain KL Rahul made the highest score of 74 runs in 56 balls. He smashed eight fours and one six in his inning. He also completed 4000 runs in IPL in just 105 innings. Kyle Mayers also scored 29 runs in 23 balls.
Deepak Hooda and Nicholas Pooran were out without doing much for the team. Krunal Pandya scored 18 runs and Stoinis also scored 15 runs for LSG. The remaining batters couldn’t score more runs and as a result, LSG post a target of 160 runs for PBKS.
For Punjab Kings, Captain Sam Curran did a brilliant job with the bowl. He picked up 3 wickets and conceded 31 runs. Rabada took 2 wickets and conceded 34 runs. Arshdeep, Harpreet, and Raza also got 1-1 wickets each.
Second Innings Summary
In absence of Shikhar Dhawan, Atharva Taide and Prabhsimran Singh opened the inning for Punjab Kings. Both batters couldn’t do much for the team. Atharva had gone for a duck while Prabhsimran also went for 4 runs. Yudhvir Singh sent both openers back to the pavilion.
Mattew Short scored 34 runs in 22 balls then K Gowtham took his wicket. Harpreet Singh Bhatia also spent time on the crease, scored 22 runs than was caught out on the ball by Krunal Pandya.
Surprisingly, Ravi Bishnoi didn’t bowl till the 14th over. In the 15th over, Ravi Bishnoi came to bowl and took the wicket of Sam Curran. Sam Curran scored only 6 runs for his team. Sikandar Raza was holding an end and scoring runs.
Jitesh Sharma came in, played 4 balls, and made 2 runs then he was also caught out on the ball by Mark Wood with an excellent catch by KL Rahul. Sikandar Raza and Shahrukh Khan were on the crease and they required 32 runs in 24 balls. In the 17th over, Avesh bowled and conceded 9 runs.
PBKS required 23 runs in 18 runs. But in the 18th over, Ravi Bishnoi came into the attack and took Sikandar Raza’s wicket and conceded only 2 runs in the over. Sikandar Raza scored a fifty for the Punjab Kings. He smashed 57 runs in 41 balls with the help of four fours and three sixes.
In the 19th over, Mark Wood conceded 13 runs in the over and took the wicket of Harpreet Brar. Then PBKS required only 7 runs in the last over. Shahrukh Khan finished the match with a four in the third ball of the 20th over. Shahrukh Khan remained not out at 23 runs in 10 balls. As a result, PBKS won the match by 2 wickets.
