Rajasthan Royals beat Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2023: The much-awaited Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 started with a bang as Rajasthan Royals defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by a whopping 72 runs in the first match of the tournament. It was a complete domination by Rajasthan as they posted a massive total of 203 runs and then bundled out Hyderabad for just 131 runs.
Rajasthan’s Dominating Performance
Rajasthan Royals won the toss and chose to bat first. Openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Jas Buttler gave a blistering start to the team with an 85-run partnership in just 5.5 overs. Buttler was the aggressor as he scored 54 runs off just 22 balls with 7 fours and 3 sixes.

Jaiswal also played a fine knock of 54 runs off 37 balls with 9 fours. Skipper Sanju Samson contributed with a quickfire 55 off 32 balls with 3 fours and 4 sixes. Shimron Hetmyer remained unbeaten on 22 off 16 balls as Rajasthan posted a huge total of 203 runs for the loss of 5 wickets.
Hyderabad’s Struggle
Chasing a mammoth target of 204 runs, Hyderabad got off to a disastrous start as Trent Boult took two wickets in the very first over. Opener Abhishek Sharma was dismissed for a duck, and Rahul Tripathi also got out early.
None of the Hyderabad batsmen could settle at the crease as Yuzvendra Chahal wreaked havoc with his leg-spin bowling. He took four wickets for just 17 runs in his 4 overs. Abdul Samad remained unbeaten on 32 runs off 32 balls, but it was not enough as Hyderabad could manage only 131 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in their 20 overs.

Rajasthan Royals will be pleased with their performance in the opening match of the tournament. They will face Punjab Kings in their next match on Wednesday. Sunrisers Hyderabad, on the other hand, will look to bounce back when they face Lucknow Super Giants on Friday.
