Nepal had a fantastic series of victories in the last 12 ODI matches of ICC CWC League 2. In the last 12 matches of ICC CWC League 2, Nepal won 11 matches. In the 24th match of CWC League 2, Nepal lost to Scotland by 8 wickets on December 08, 2022. After losing the match, Nepal was in the 6th position in the points table. Till that time Nepal had 8 wins, 1 tied, 1 canceled, and 14 losses in the previous matches. At the time after losing 14 matches, Nepal was in a very tough situation, Nepal must win 11 of its remaining 12 matches to reach in Qualifiers directly. At that time, it was looking impossible to reach Qualifiers directly. Even ODI status was in danger. Nepal needs 9 wins out of 12 matches to retain the ODI status. Under the New Coach Monty Desai and Captain Rohit Kumar Paudel, Nepal won its remaining 11 matches out of 12. Those wins helped Nepal to create history. Nepal reaches to World Cup Qualifiers directly. Nepal needs to finish in the top 3 in the points table to reach in Qualifiers. With the win against UAE in the last match of CWC League 2, Nepal reach in top 3 at the points table and manage to get into the Qualifiers. Nepal finished in the top 3 at the points table with 19 wins and 40 points. The series of victories helped Nepal to get into the Qualifiers.
In the last 12 matches, Nepal played extremely well. Every Nepali player contributed to the team. The freedom given by the New Coach Monty Desai had shown colors. Players complemented each other and had fantastic wins. To win 11 out of the last 12 matches luck factor was also very important. Nepal got that luck factor. Nepal won the toss in 9 matches. Along with the Toss, Nature also supported Nepal. No match was canceled, and when the rain stops the last match, that also goes in favor of Nepal. In the 25th match of CWC League 2, Nepal played against Namibia on February 14, 2023. Nepal won the match by 2 wickets with the help of Kushal Bhurtel’s excellent century and Karan KC’s brilliant 5 wickets haul. The next (26th) match was against Scotland on 17 February. Nepal won that match by 3 wickets with the help of DS Airee’s all-round performance. On 18th February, Nepal won against Namibia by 3 wickets in the 27th game. The streak of wins was increasing with every win of team Nepal. Nepal won another match with Scotland by 2 wickets in the 28th game played on February 21. On February 27, Nepal registered another victory against PNG by 4 wickets in the 29th match. In another match (30th match) played on March 2, UAE defeated Nepal by 68 runs.
Match 31 to 35
After losing to UAE, Nepal must need 6 victories in the remaining 6 matches to secure a spot in WC Qualifier directly. Nepal played its 31st match against PNG on March 3. Nepal won that match by 3 wickets. In the 32nd match played on March 6, Nepal defeated UAE by 42 runs. In the next (33rd) match played on March 9, Nepal won against PNG by 52 runs. On March 12, Nepal played against UAE in the 34th match. Nepal won the match by a big margin of 177 runs. With that win, Nepal retained the ODI status. In the next (35th) match Nepal played against PNG and won the match by 9 wickets on March 13.
Last Match Drama
In the last or 36th match, Nepal played against UAE. UAE set a total of 310 runs on board and invited Nepal to chase. UAE’s Asif Khan scored a 41-ball century for his team. Nepal had a poor start and lost 3 wickets on 37 runs. The target was very huge and the falling of wickets was taking the game away from Nepal. But with the help of 4 half-centuries, Nepal scored 269/7 in 44 overs. The game was stopped by the Umpires due to rain and Nepal won the match by 9 runs (DLS Method).

The journey to the World Cup Qualifiers for Nepal started on February 05, 2020. Nepal started the journey for Qualifiers under the captainship of Gyanendra Malla. Nepal lost the first match in CWC League 2 against Oman. The journey continues with ups and downs. Nepal played its 4th match in CWC League 2 against the USA on February 12, 2020. Nepal won 2 matches and lost 2 matches in the first 4 matches of CWC League 2. Then the arrival of the Covid-19 pandemic stops all cricket matches.
After the pandemic, Nepal played its 5th match of CWC League 2 on September 13, 2021. Till that time Nepali legendary all-rounder Paras Khadka already retired from International Cricket. The journey wasn’t easy for Nepal. The transition of players was started. New talents were replacing old players. After playing 12 matches in League 2, Nepal has won 6 matches and lost also in 6 matches. Till 20 matches in CWC League 2, Nepal has won 8 matches, 1 tied, and lost in 11 matches. After playing 24 matches In CWC League 2, Nepal only won 8 matches,1 tied, 1 canceled, and lost in 14 matches. Then in the remaining 12 matches Nepal won 11 matches and make team into World Cup Qualifiers.
