Outgoing Sports Minister Biraj Bhakta Shrestha has admitted that he could not achieve significant improvements during his tenure and has taken full responsibility for all the shortcomings. In a candid address at his farewell program held at Singha Durbar on Sunday, Shrestha acknowledged the challenges he faced and the high expectations placed on him.
“While the credit for any good work goes to everyone, I alone take responsibility for the failures,” Shrestha stated, emphasizing his accountability. He highlighted the importance of the policy decisions made during his term, despite not fully meeting the anticipated outcomes in the sports sector.
Shrestha reflected on the difficulties of working within the Ministry of Sports, describing it as an extremely challenging environment. He admitted that, despite his best efforts and the significant policies introduced, the anticipated improvements in the sports sector were not realized.
The outgoing minister’s admission marks a poignant moment for the sports community, as it looks forward to new leadership and renewed efforts to address the challenges and unmet expectations in the sector.
