SRH won the match against PBKS: In the 14th match of IPL 2023, Sunrisers Hyderabad defeated Punjab Kings by 8 wickets. The SRH vs PBKS match was played on April 9 at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad.
Sunrisers Hyderabad won the toss and chose to bowl first. Shikhar Dhawan fight alone against SRH bowlers and took the team up to 143 runs. In the 2nd inning, SRH chased the target with 17 balls remaining with a loss of 2 wickets. Despite Shikhar Dhawan’s team losing the match, he became the Player of the Match for his exceptional inning.
1st Inning: Shikhar Dhawan fight alone against SRH bowlers
Shikhar Dhawan scored 99 runs not out in 66 balls against SRH. In his inning, he scored 12 fours and 5 sixes. After Dhawan, Sam Curren scored the second-highest run (22 runs) for Punjab.
No others batters had scored in double digits. In 88 runs Punjab had already lost their 9 wickets. But Shikhar Dhawan and Mohit Rathee had a partnership of 55 runs in which Rathee scored only 1 run. But Shikhar Dhawan’s 99 not out took the team up to a fighting total of 143 runs.
For SRH, Markande picked up 4 wickets conceding only 15 runs. Marko Jansen and Umran Malik took 2-2 wickets while Bhuvneshwar Kumar got 1 wicket.
2nd Inning: SRH won the match against PBKS by 8 Wickets
Harry Brook and Mayank Agarwal opened the inning for SRH. Brook scored 13 runs and Mayank scored 21 runs. Rahul Tripathi and Captain Aiden Markram played beautifully and chased the target. Tripathi scored 74 runs not out while Markram scored 37 runs not out. They completed the target in 17.1 overs with a loss of 2 wickets.
For Punjab, Arshdeep Singh and Rahul Chahar both took 1-1 wickets.
