UAE vs PNG: UAE Defeated PNG in an Impressive 21-Run Victory

UAE vs PNG: In the second match of the ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier Play-off 2023, UAE registered a victory against PNG. The match was played on March 27 at Wanderers Cricket Ground, Windhoek. Aayan Afjal Khan was Player of the Match for his all-round performance in UAE vs PNG match.

In the UAE vs PNG match, Papua New Guinea won the toss and opted to bowl first. UAE set a total of 260 runs with the help of Waseem and Aayan Khan’s beautiful knocks. In the chase, PNG all out in 239 runs and UAE won the match by 21 runs.

First Inning UAE vs PNG: Captain Waseem and Aayan khan took UAE upto 260 runs

For UAE, Captain Muhammad Waseem and Aryan Lakra opened the inning. Lakra couldn’t do much for the team and lbw by Chad Soper in the 4th over of the inning. Then in the next ball, Vritya Aravind also got out. At 33 runs Rameez Shehzad, at 51 runs Asif Khan also departs. Captain Waseem was holding an end but from another end, wickets were falling continuously. Rohan Mustafa tried to stay in the crease but he also got out in the 21st over. Then after, the score was 89/5 at 20.4 overs.

New batsman Aayan Afjal Khan and Captain Waseem made a partnership of 80 runs for the sixth wicket. Waseem got out by Semo Kamea in the 37th over of the inning. He missed his hundred, he got out while he was playing at 96 runs. Then Aayan Khan and Palaniapan Meiyappan also had a partnership of 90 runs for the team. Meiyeppan scored 24 runs and was bowled by Norman Vanua at the second last ball of the inning. Aayan Afjal Khan also missed his century and stayed not out at 94 runs. After Sanchit Sharma took 1 run in the last ball, UAE made a total of 260 runs in 50 overs with the loss of 7 wickets.

For PNG, Chad Soper took 4 wickets for the team. Semo Kamea took 2 wickets while Noman Vanua got 1 wicket.

For PNG, Tony Ura and Kiplin Doriga gave a brilliant start to the team. They had 146 runs opening partnership for the team. In the 21st over, R Mustafa sent Tony Ura back to the pavilion. He scored 56 runs for the team. After T Ura, in the next over another opener Doriga also c&b by Meiyappan. He scored 73 runs for the team. Sese Bau, Captain Assad Vala, and Norman Vanua couldn’t do much for their team.

Charles Amini spend some time on the crease but he also couldn’t score much for his team. He just scored 15 runs off 44 balls. Gaudi Toka also played similar kinds of innings for the team. He scored 20 runs off 51 balls and got out. Zahoor Khan sent both Amini and Toka back to the pavilion. After 43 overs PNG was at 219 runs for 7 wickets. Riley Hukure also got out after making 11 runs. Hila vare and Semo Kamea also depart and PNG was all out at 239 runs. Chad Soper stayed not out at 8 runs. UAE won the match by 21 runs.

For UAE, Meiyappan took 4 wickets while Zahoor Khan took 3 wickets. Junaid Siddique, Aayan Khan, and Rohan Mustafa also got 1-1 wickets.
