Victory for Namibia and USA: In the USA’s last match in Qualifier Play-off, they secured a spot in Qualifier. In their last match, they won the match against Jersey. Now USA may meet WI and SA in the qualifiers along with Nepal.
Victory for Namibia: In another match, Namibia beat Canada very easily. Namibia defeated Canada by a big margin of 111 runs.
Namibia vs Canada
In the 12th match of the ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier Play-off 2023, Namibia defeated Canada by 111 runs. The match was played on April 4 at Wanderers Cricket Ground, Windhoek. In the match, Namibia won the toss and decided to bat first. Shaun Fouche became the man of the match for his all-round performance.
In the first inning, the opening pair gave a good start for Namibia. Shaun Fouche scored 83 runs and Niko Davin scored 40 runs. Zane Green also made runs quickly. He scored 45 runs in 30 balls. At last Pikky Ya France also scored 34 runs not out. Other batsmen also contributed some runs and Namibia set a total of 267 runs with a loss of 9 wickets. For Canada, Kaleem Sana and Harsh Thaker picked up 2-2 wickets. J Gordon, Dillon Heyliger, S Zafar, and Nikhil Dutta took 1-1 wickets each.
In the second inning, Canada didn’t have a very good start. Canada loosed wickets in regular intervals. Canada was all out in 156 runs and Namibia won the match by 111 runs. For Canada, Pragat Singh and Ravinderpal Singh both scored 34 runs. Mattew Spoors scored 32 runs for the team. Other batters couldn’t score runs and Namibia won the match. For Namibia, Gerhard Erasmus, Bernard Scholtz, and Pikky Ya France took 2-2 wickets each. Ben Shikongo, Ruben Trumpelmann, and Shaun Fouche also got 1-1 wickets.
USA vs Jersey
In the 13th match of the ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier Play-off 2023, the USA won against Jersey by 25 runs. The match was played on April 4 at United Cricket Club Ground, Windhoek. In the match, Jersey won the toss and decided to bowl first. Ali Khan became the Player of the Match for his outstanding bowling. With today’s win, the USA seal the spot for the Qualifier.
In the first inning, Steven Taylor scored again for the USA. He scored 79 runs and got run out. Gajanand Singh scored 41 runs then Benjamin Ward sent him back to the pavilion. Mukkamalla scored 21 runs, Nisarg Patel scored 23 runs and Jessy Singh 29 runs for the team. Other batsmen could not score much and the USA set a total of 231 runs with the loss of all wickets after playing all overs. For Jersey, Benjamin Ward picked up 4 wickets. Sumerauer and Miles took 2-2 wickets while Perchard got 1 wicket.
In the second inning, the top order failed to score runs for Jersey. Asa Tribe scored 75 runs and Benjamin Ward scored 46 runs for the team. Julius Sumerauer also scored 35 runs but the other batters couldn’t score enough runs for the team to win the match. Jersey all out in 206 runs and the USA won the match by 25 runs. For the USA, Ali Khan picked up 7 wickets of Jersey. Nisarg Patel took 2 wickets while Jasdeep Singh got 1 wicket.
