Win for UAE and Jersey: In the 8th and 9th matches of the ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier Play-off 2023, UAE and Jersey won their respective matches. In the 8th match, UAE won by 6 wickets against Canada. Similarly, in the 9th match, Jersey defeated PNG by 11 runs.

UAE vs Canada: UAE won the match by 6 wickets

In the 8th match of the ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier Play-off 2023, UAE defeated Canada by 6 wickets. The match was played on April 1 at Wanderers Cricket Ground, Windhoek. Canada won the toss and opted to bat first. Muhammad Waseem became the Player of the match for his match-winning captain’s knock.

Canada set a total of 254 runs in 48.5 overs losing all the wickets. For Canada, Pargat Singh scored a century. He scored 102 runs in 96 balls for the team. Nicholas Kirton also scored 50 runs for Canada. In bowling, Jeremy Gordon, Harsh Thaker, Nikhil Dutta, and Saad Bin Zafar picked 1-1 wickets each.

In the chase, UAE completed the target with 1 overs remaining to win the match. For UAE, 3 batsmen scored half-centuries. Captain Muhammad Waseem scored the highest 80 runs for the team. Rameez Shahzad and Aryan Lakra both scored 53 runs each for the UAE. In bowling, Afjal Khan took 3 wickets. Junaid Siddique and Zahoor Khan picked up 2-2 wickets while Mustafa also got 1 wicket.

In the 9th match of the ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier Play-off 2023, Jersey won the game against PNG by 11 runs. The match was played on April 1 at United Cricket Club Ground, Windhoek. Jersey won the toss and opted to bat first. Jersey’s player Josh Lawrenson became the Player of the Match for his excellent hundred.

Jersey set a total of 291 runs in 50 overs with a loss of 4 wickets. For Jersey, two batsmen scored centuries. Josh Lawrenson scored 114 runs off 105 balls while Asa Tribe scored 115 runs off 143 balls not out. In bowling, Julius Sumerauer, Elliot Miles, Charles Perchard, and Harrison Carlyon took 2-2 wickets each.

In the chase, PNG scored only 280 runs and lost the match by 11 runs. 3 batsmen of PNG scored half-centuries but couldn’t secure the team win. Captain Assad Vala scored 75 runs, Riley Hakure scored 58 runs, and Charles Amini scored 54 runs for the team. In bowling, Semo Kamea and Chad Soper picked up 2-2 wickets.
